Anatomical Models - Bone models

Bone anatomical models are a tool used to learn anatomy mainly at medical universities and high schools with a biological and natural profile. In addition, they can be used as a decorative element in doctor's, physiotherapeutic, osteopathic offices and clinics. Our models are not only a great teaching tool, but also a valuable source of knowledge for anyone interested in the human body and its functioning. Thanks to their three-dimensional structure and precise execution, they allow for a thorough understanding of the structure of a given bone and its quick memorization. Our store's offer includes models of bones of lower and upper limbs, models of spinal vertebrae and many others. Each didactic bone model is a representation of anatomical structures, created with high precision.

Bone structure:

Bones are the basic structural element of the human body. Their complex structure protects the internal organs and allows movement and support for the muscles.
Bones are made up of compact matter, spongy substance, periosteum and bone marrow.
The compact matter is the inner part of the bone, made of compact bone tissue. It is rich in minerals (calcium and phosphorus) which makes bones strong and resistant to damage.
The spongy substance is the outer, porous part of the bone. This layer is made of trabeculae that give bones strength and flexibility.
The periosteum is a thin membrane that covers the outer surface of the bone. It has a protective role and is an attachment point for ligaments and muscles.
The bone marrow is located inside the bony cavities of spongy and compact matter. There are two types of marrow: red, which is responsible for the production of blood cells, and yellow, which stores fats.
Bones can have different shapes and sizes due to the function they perform. We distinguish e.g. long bones (e.g. femur and humerus), flat bones (e.g. sternum) and short bones (e.g. wrist or foot bones). The connections between bones are called joints. Bone connections, such as ligaments and tendons, stabilize joints and allow controlled movement. Bones are vascularized by a network of blood vessels that deliver nutrients and oxygen. This is important for regeneration and their health.

Bone Features:

Bones perform a number of key functions in the body. Here are the main ones:
Support - bones build a skeleton that gives the body structure and acts as a scaffold for muscles and other soft tissues.
Protection – bones protect delicate internal organs such as the brain, lungs, pelvic organs.
Movement and balance - in cooperation with the muscles through contraction and relaxation, movement and balance are generated.
Blood cell production - The bone marrow, which is found inside the bones, produces red blood cells, leukocytes and platelets. This process is called hematopoiesis.
Mineral storage - bones act as a mineral storage (calcium and phosphorus). These minerals are essential for many bodily functions, including healthy bones, nerves, and muscles.
Regulation of acid-base balance - bones act as an acid-base buffer, helping to maintain the proper pH level in the blood through the uptake and release of chemical compounds.
Hormone Production - Bones produce hormones such as osteocalcin that affect metabolic processes and mineral storage.
These various functions of bones make them indispensable for the healthy functioning of the body. Their structure and properties allow them to perform these diverse roles, which contributes to maintaining homeostasis and the overall well-being of the body.

What does the OpenMedis online store offer?

We offer a very diverse selection of bone anatomical models.
  • Models of bones of the lower limb - these models reproduce the bones of the human lower limb in a very accurate way. Our assortment includes models of foot bones, tibia, fibula, femur and patella.
  • Upper limb bone models – these models facilitate and accelerate the learning of upper limb bone anatomy. Our offer includes e.g. humerus, ulna, radius, and a set of hand bones.
  • Models of spinal vertebrae - due to the large diversity of the structure of the spinal vertebrae, we offer models of the lumbar spine, thoracic vertebrae, a skull with cervical vertebrae and a set of eight vertebrae.
  • Bone anatomical models - various - this category includes, among others: models of the internal structure of bones, models of flat bones, ribs and models of bones affected by osteoporosis.
Application of bone anatomical models:
Anatomical models of human bones have a wide range of applications in various fields, such as science and education, medicine and training. Here are some of the main uses of these models:
  • Medical education - anatomical and didactic models of bones are irreplaceable in the process of teaching students of medicine, nursing and other fields in the field of medical care. They help in learning the structure of bones, their topography, mutual relationships and roles in the muscular system.
  • Hands-on training - Anatomical models are the perfect tool for hands-on training. They are often used during practical classes in medical faculties and during exams.
  • Research and diagnostics - bone anatomical models can be used as a tool to learn about various bone and joint diseases and to analyze clinical cases in order to better understand diseases and pathological processes occurring in them.
  • School education - bone anatomical models are also useful in school education, in secondary schools or vocational universities, where students can gain basic knowledge about the structure of the human body.
  • Patient education – these models are often used in doctor's and physiotherapeutic offices to present skeletal structures to patients. This facilitates the process of understanding the problem and accelerates the understanding of the procedures that patients will be subjected to.
  • An element of office equipment - bone models are ideal as an element of the decor of doctor's offices, physiotherapy and medical clinics.
Bone anatomical models offered by our store are made of high-quality materials, detailed and durable. Thanks to their realistic construction, they enable effective learning and demonstration of construction. Our models are aimed at schoolchildren, students, doctors and medical professionals and are a perfect complement to all educational and research needs.
We also recommend models of the skull, pelvis and spine, which in combination with anatomical models of bones will create an ideal set for learning anatomy.
If you have any questions or if the bone model you need is not available in the store, please contact us by e-mail or contact phone. We are sure that together we will be able to provide the necessary materials for learning and improving skills. We have the ability to make models on request.
