Anatomical Models - Lymphatic System Model

Models of the lymphatic system are an excellent tool for learning anatomy as well as an element of equipment in a doctor's office. These models are useful both in private offices and in medical centers or universities. In our shop we have reduced models of the lymphatic system with the system of lymphatic vessels and lymphatic organs. They allow for a detailed analysis of structures. The workmanship of the models is very careful and presents over 20 anatomical structures.

Anatomical structure of the lymphatic system:

The lymphatic system is a system of tubes filled with lymph. Lymph in different parts of the system has different composition and appearance.
The lymphatic system includes:
  • Capillary lymph vessels
  • Collecting draining lymph vessels
  • Absorbent trunks
  • Lymph nodes
  • Lymph organs (e.g. thymus, spleen)
Lymph capillaries begin with blind diverticula and then join together to form networks. The lymphatic networks then pass into the efferent collecting vessels. They, on the other hand, form the lymph trunks that merge into the thoracic duct. Lymph nodes are found in specific places in our body. The largest lymph nodes are located under the jaw, around the neck, armpits, groin and under the knees.

Functions of the lymphatic system:

  • The lymph collects toxic substances and carries them to the lymph nodes, from where they are further transported to the kidneys and excreted from the body.
  • Antibody production.
  • Exchange of substances between the lymphatic and circulatory systems.
The lymphatic system plays an important role in maintaining the proper level of immunity of the whole body and is responsible for the removal of toxins present in our body. Sometimes it happens that the lymphatic system is damaged or ceases to be efficient, this results in a disorder of the body's immunity and the formation of lymphedema within our body.
